Have you ever stood in your living room, voice assistant at the ready, pondering how to ask for the right shade of white light? I’m Isaac, with a background in engineering at Apple and Amazon, and I’m here to shed light on the shades of white you can command from your voice assistants. From the cozy ‘Ivory’ to the crisp ‘Daylight,’ this guide will help you quickly navigate the white light spectrum.
Alexa, Show Me the Whites: Understanding Alexa-Compatible Shades of White

Alexa, Amazon’s voice assistant, can set the perfect mood in your home with a range of white shades. When you say, “Alexa, turn the living room light to Warm White,” you’re greeted with a soothing, mellow glow. On the other hand, asking for “Cool White” gives you a brighter, more invigorating light. These subtle variations can significantly alter the feel of a room.
Hey Siri, Set the Mood: Siri’s Palette of White Shades
Siri, Apple’s voice assistant, also understands a variety of white shades. Requesting “Siri, set my study light to Frost” provides a gentle illumination, while “Pearl” offers a slightly brighter yet still soft light. It’s fascinating how a simple command can so dramatically change the ambiance of a space.

Candlelight – is the command I use to give the lights a nice warm yellowish glow. This command is recognized by SIRI for homekit bulbs. This for me is the closest to a 2700K-3000K bulb. Thank you so much for these excellent pages it has made using my multi-color led bulbs so much more fun to explore different color schemes with it.
You don’t understand how helpful this has been!! I’m a big fan of that 6500k blueish-white you see on car headlights a.k.a. “Daylight” on a light bulb, but could never get Siri to do it correctly. Thank you! !
